Terms and Conditions for boarding your Pet

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT INFORMATION CAREFULLY

1. DEPOSITS & FEES

A minimum deposit of 20% (or three day’s stay, whichever is the greater) is required at the time of booking. Deposits are non-refundable. The deposit amount paid is deducted from your final bill. Bookings cancelled within 5 days of the first day of the stay are subject to full payment of the entire booking.

PLEASE NOTE: New customers booking with less than 14 days’ notice will be required to make full payment prior to their stay.

All rates are per day, levied from and including the day of arrival up to and including the day of departure. An overnight stay will therefore be charged as 2 days. We do offer a half price fee for pets collected before 11:30am on the day of collection.

If you are delayed and cannot collect your pet on the agreed date / time please contact us as soon as possible to discuss the best option. Additional days will be charged at the normal rate + an additional £10 per day at our discretion. A Minimum Peak Season Rate of 5 Days Boarding for Cats & Dogs will apply for the last week of July and the entire month of August.

Owners are required to settle their accounts in full upon collection of their pet. The final payment can be made by Cash, Debit Card, credit card or by bank transfer.

PLEASE NOTE: Easter Sunday, Christmas Day & New Years Day, will all be charged at double rate.

If we need to provide your animal out of hours care or take them to the vets for any treatment, we reserve the right to charge a minimum of £50 towards the costs we incur. This is required to cover additional staff costs incurred during these (rare) events. In addition we will normally charge £20 per additional hour per staff member as required to ensure your pet gets the best attention until either the emergency contact or the vet can take over or the animal returns to the kennels / cattery. In all cases we will attempt to contact you and / or your emergency contact before any decisions are made. Your pets well-being is always our priority at all times. In all cases above, the full price for the duration booked will still apply as we will not be able to re-book the pets accommodation at such short notice.

2. EMERGENCY CONTACT

You need to provide us with a minimum of 1 emergency contact for the duration of your pets stay. The emergency contact needs to be able to provide your pet with emergency accommodation should a situation arise where we are no longer able to keep them with us, e.g. your pet doesn’t settle and becomes increasingly stressed or becomes ill etc. Please be aware that should we have to pass your pet on to your emergency contact, the full price for the duration booked will still apply as we will not be able to re-book the pets accommodation at such short notice.

3. VACCINATIONS and HEALTH

GENERAL: All owners should present their animals for boarding in a fit and healthy condition. If your animal is unwell before their boarding date then please let us know as soon as possible (if they are not expected to be better). We can then discuss the best way forward. Animals may be refused their stay if they are considered too unwell.

FLEAS: Please ensure your pet is treated regularly to prevent fleas. We expect your pet to have an effective flea management programme. We recommend that you use a veterinary approved / prescribed flea product such as Advantage, Advocate or Stronghold, or one of the long term flea prevention injections. Your vet will advise you of the best treatment available. We are unable to treat your pet if we discover it has fleas as we do not wish to cause an allergic reaction. We will however need to fumigate the entire block. Your pet will be moved to an isolation unit and your emergency contact will be asked to collect them the same day. The time and cost to our business is considerable, therefore a charge of £50 will be required towards the cost of this and the fumigation treatment. This will be added to your final bill. Where practical we will collect evidence for you to be able to see the level of infestation your pet has.

TICKS: If we find ticks on you pet we will (where possible) remove them safely with tick removers. If we feel this cannot be achieved we will contact you or your emergency contact to discuss further treatment options.

WORMS: If we suspect your pet has worms we will administer a suitable worming treatment. The charge for this is £10 and will be added to the final bill.

VACCINATIONS: If your pet has had to re-start their booster programme, or this is the first time they are having it, then their programme needs to be completed at least 2 weeks before staying at the Kennels and / or Cattery. We ask to see your vaccination records for every visit. If the required documents are not produced then we reserve the right to refuse to board your animal. In this event any deposit taken will be lost. Whilst every care is taken with your pet, we cannot accept responsibility for accidents or illness such as Kennel Cough or Cat Flu.

DOGS: All Dogs must have a current vaccination certificate against Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Distemper and Leptospirosis (these are standard in your yearly “Booster” vaccinations the dogs receives at the Vets). Kennel Cough is advisable but we do not insist upon it. However, if you do decide to have this done (administered via a nasal spray), then we do ask that this is done at least 4 weeks before coming in to stay in the kennels, otherwise we cannot accept the dog. Please note that we do accept Titre tested dogs. However, they must still have a current Leptospirosis vaccination.

CATS: Cats must have a current vaccination certificate against Feline Enteritis, both types of Cat Flu (herpesvirus and calicivirus), Feline Chlamydophilosis and Leukaemia (these will be in your yearly “Booster” vaccinations your cat receives at the Vets)

3. MEDICATION

We are happy to administer simple medications such as tablets, eye drops and creams for your pet. We will only adhere strictly to the owners / vets written instructions. However, we will charge an additional £1.00 per day for 12 hourly administered medications. In the event of any illness your pet will (if thought necessary) be taken (where possible) to your designated veterinary practise for treatment. If this is not possible we will use Higham Vets or Scotts.

4. VETERINARY FEES

Veterinary fees incurred during the boarding period are the responsibility of the client, and must be paid at the time of settling the kennel fees unless a payment plan has been agreed by us (or the vet direct). Unless otherwise stated we will use Higham Vets or Scotts. If veterinary treatment is required during your pets stay then we will endeavour to contact you or your emergency contact in advance if possible. Your pets well-being is always our priority at all times.

6. UN-NEUTERED PETS

You must disclose to us if your pet has not been neutered. In the case of male dogs this causes no problems. If you think your female dog will be in season for her stay then we appreciate being informed in advance so we can take this into account. We do not accept un-neutered male or female cats at this time. We do not accept pregnant animals.

7. DISRUPTIVE BEHAVOUR

You must disclose to us if your pet has any aggressive tendencies either towards humans and/or other animals. If we feel that your pet poses a threat to our kennel staff, then we reserve the right to refuse to board your animal. Should your pet become aggressive towards staff during their stay, your emergency contact may be required to give your pet emergency accommodation. If any animal harms (or attempts to harm) our staff then that staff member will look after their own safety first. Rushden Boarding Kennels will not be liable for any injury or loss to the animal in this event. Please be aware that should we have to pass your pet on to your emergency contact, the full price for the duration booked will still apply.

8. WELFARE AND SAFETY

Every care will be taken in the welfare and safety of all pets boarded, but all pets boarded are entirely at the client’s risk. All customer equipment such as harnesses, leads, collars, cat carriers or cages must be a good and secure condition. Rushden Boarding kennels will not be liable for any customer equipment failure / damage or subsequent issues resulting for any such failures. If the owner fails to collect any pet(s) within 7 days of the due date of departure then it is accepted that the owner gives Rushden Boarding Kennels & Cattery Ltd the authority to re-home the animal(s) without further reference to the owner. If you are delayed and cannot collect your pet on the agreed date please contact us as soon as possible. Additional days will be charged at the normal rate + an additional £10 per day at our discretion.
